Weekly Flash Fiction Challenge #3

It’s that time of the week again. Here are the restrictions:

Title: Blackwater Park

Genre: Crime

Dialogue: “Before we continue you should know that I did not make that mess in the next room.”

Technical: Cannot use any apostrophes.

Interesting to note, this is the first time two of the restrictions clashed. The dialogue originally read “don’t”, which obviously uses an apostrophe. Since it’s a relatively minor clash, the easy solution was to change it to “do not”, which I did. I’m sure it won’t be the last time, and in future I will continue to take the liberty of tweaking restrictions if they clash like this, but only to the degree that they retain their original character and purpose.
