Let’s get this right out of the way: a Blupdate is a Bluff Update (aka a Blog Update) and will be how I will present updates regarding the blog from now on. When I came up with the name, I immediately knew two things: it is terrible, and I must use it.
This first Blupdate is just to reiterate what I was saying a couple of posts ago. From now on, I am going to assign each day a particular topic or theme, and then aim to post for that at least every other week. I had originally planned on posting weekly, meaning I would end up with a new post just about every single day, but given my track record and the amount of time that would consume I decided giving myself the fortnightly buffer would be less likely to lead to failure.
As to what each day will bring, here is the schedule:
Monday – Writing/Flash Fiction Challenge Story
Tuesday – Flash Fiction Challenge Restrictions
Wednesday – Games
Thursday – Movies
Friday – Travel
Saturday – Blupdates/Miscellany
Sunday – D&D Game
This is just the first version of the schedule. We’ll see if it remains exactly this once it has been in practice a few weeks.
A few words on the topics. I’m aiming to restart the Flash Fiction Challenge this week, so the Restrictions for that will henceforth be going up on Tuesdays with the completed story up the following Monday. Monday will also be used for any other writing things I have to post, be they stories or thoughts on writing.
Games covers all game-related things. As I have alluded to before, I have a great many interests, many of which, I feel, would fall under the category of ‘Games’, so this is sort of the day that that stuff will be going up. My upcoming posts about D&D are a perfect example of this. Movies is a similar category, except I’m a massive movies buff, so I feel it deserves its own day. I’m not sure exactly what I’ll be posting related to movies, though. I’m considering starting with some write-ups about some of my favourite movies, but we’ll see.
The rest is kind of self-explanatory, especially considering I’ve sort of covered it in the last few posts as well. Friday’s will be travel-related stuff, and then the last two days will be in reverse order from what they are this week, simply because we occasionally play our D&D game on Sunday, so it’ll be easier for it to belong there every week. The Blupdates and Miscellany day will be for these Blupdates and then whatever else I have to say that doesn’t fit into any of the other topics, so its the only day I won’t be keeping strict to the fortnightly posting, since I won’t necessarily have anything to post.
So that’s that, then. I don’t have anything to post for Writing tomorrow, but the next Flash Fiction Challenge Restrictions should go up on Tuesday. Let’s see how well I stick to this schedule after that.
