One year ago today, I flew to Berlin…

…to begin what would turn out to be a lifechanging, eye-opening experience travelling a decent chunk of the world.

Okay, so this has taken a lot longer than I expected, and there are a number of reasons why (which I won’t bother going into), but the bottom line is, today being one year since I left, I set it as the absolute final deadline for posting this, and gosh darn it, I’m going to stick to it.

Part of the reason it took so long to write this is that when I approached it by going through place by place, trip by trip like in my initial plan, it was just plain old boring to read. Many of the things that happened on my travels are stories that are only interesting if you know the people involved, or if you were there yourself. I’m sure we’ve all experienced the pain of sitting through someone’s ‘hilarious’ story only for them to reach the punchline, and when you don’t laugh they just say, ‘oh, I guess you really had to be there’. So instead, I’m not going to specifically talk about the trips I went on within my travels, but rather general things about my travels. I’ll get specific with certain trips, definitely, but otherwise, generalities.

The first thing I’m going to talk about are group trips, and my thoughts and opinions on them now that I’ve been on a few. That will go up in the next day or two, and then on from there.
